Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel exploring the rise of Mufasa from an orphaned cub to the legendary king of the Pride Lands. Told in flashback by Rafiki to Kiara (Simba's daughter), the story follows Mufasa and his adopted brother Taka (later Scar) on a journey with a group of misfits to escape a dangerous, murderous foe named Kiros.
